Great Family Memories
Things To Do, Attractions, Music and Arts, Nature and Outdoors, Shopping
The summer of 2006 was our first one-full-week vacation ever as a family. Our children were 20, 22 & 24. With 3 children in college & or working, a week-long vacation was, first of all, hard to get planned. Also, our sons girlfriend joined us for the trip. We knew we wanted to come to TN. We began our trip by staying in Gatlinburg for 3 days. The cabin we stayed at was amazingly quiet,… Read More

After my boyfriend and I had dated for almost 2 years, we decided that it was time to get married. We talked about it, and we both agreed: neither one of us wanted the headache of planning a big wedding and worrying about details, but we did want a few friends and family around. We live in Middle Tennessee, and some friends & family are in Chattanooga, so we wanted to get married somewhere that… Read More

My Tennessee story starts with a family vacation to Gatlinburg in 1996. WOW! I was blown away by its breathtaking beauty. The Smoky Mountains are incredible. We enjoyed that vacation so much that we stayed for 3 weeks, a week longer than orignially planned. I am glad we took this trip because my in-laws enjoyed it so, and it was one of our last trips.
I, however, have been back six more times, both with… Read More

In 2006, my husband and I decided to go to Gatlinburg the week of Thanksgiving. We rented a cabin in the mountains just for the first part of the week so we could be home in Middletown, Ohio for the holiday. The cabin we rented had a hot tub on the front porch that overlooked a little pond. The first night there, tired from the drive down, we decided to relax in the hot tub.… Read More

Tennessee Experience of our Lifetime
Things To Do, Attractions, History and Heritage, Nature and Outdoors, Shopping
My husband & I grew up in West Virginia; our kids are grown now and we have retired.
We went to Nashville and fell in LOVE…The people are so different and friendly. It was such a blessing to be somewhere and be treated like someone special. We enjoyed the nightlife and the Grand Ole Opry .We would like to move there some day!!
We both loved the malls and all the countryside. The horses and… Read More

It was mid-October and a group of friends rode our Harleys up through Tennessee to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway. The main reason for our trip was to see the leaves changing colors. This is something Florida palm trees do not do!
The colors are magnificent in Tennessee. The ride through Georgia is mostly pavement, but the sight of the Tennessee border was wonderful. The leaves were turning, the days were perfect, nights were chilled… Read More

Went for the Music, Stayed for the People and Green
Things To Do, History and Heritage, Music and Arts, Nature and Outdoors
My family went to Tennessee to be near Nashville (country music) and Memphis (Elvis). The closest we could get was Crossville, TN. That was three years ago, and now half my family lives either in Crossville or Cookeville, TN. The rest of us will be moving in June 2008 when my husband retires from 20 years of teaching. We first were enticed to Tennessee for the music and Elvis. Now we are staying for the… Read More

I grew up at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains and can see or be happy in no other place. Although I have lived other places, the mountains keep calling me home, and when I finally see them all is well within me.
There are so many things to do and see there, such as Cades Cove…the 14 mile trail where a person can see deer by the herds and bear, wild turkey,…

Growing up in Northern Alabama, my daddy taught us the importance and beauty of the outdoors. We would take that long road trip through Tennessee in an old Volkswagon station wagon to stay in the Smokies. We didn’t have a lot of spending money so we just enjoyed the park but that was enough. The mist in the valley blanketing the Mountain Laurel., the bears sneaking through the campsite at night and the road to… Read More

My husband and I love motorcycle adventures. We love to combine trips where we plan an activity, but create the trip as we go. Last summer we decided to do a trip through middle and eastern Tennessee on the bike. Mind you, the time was August and it was the hottest on record; not necessarily the best time to take off into the elements. But we have romantic ideas that we get so few moments… Read More
