My Memories of Tennessee
Things To Do
My parents were both from Tennessee and had moved here to Michigan for work. When I was 8 years old my mom and I used to take the Greyhound bus down to see all of our relatives, and we stayed at my Grandpa’s house.
I remember taking care of his strawberry plants and it was my job to make sure the birds didn’t get them before they could be picked. At night it was nice to sit on the porch on a warm summer night because it was so peaceful and quiet. It was my first time seeing a June bug or lightening bug, as some call it.
Everywhere we went everyone was so nice and friendly. As many times as we re-visited I had never had a bad experience at all and always looked foward to those trips. It is a very laid back atmosphere compared to big city living. My oldest daughter and 2 grandchildren live there now and she feels the same way and always tells me how beautiful it is living there.
There is a lot there that I haven’t even had a chance to see yet. If I ever live anywhere else than Michigan I would definitely consider moving to Tennessee. It is a beautiful place and I have many fond memories of it.
