Spring Brings Strawberries, Irises and Outdoor Fun to Tennessee

Things To Do, My Tennessee Week

It’s a great time to head outdoors and experience all that Tennessee has to offer during the warmer weather. Around every corner there seems to be a festival celebrating all things fun and all things spring.

The Tennessee Iris Festival in Dresden, from now through May 1, celebrates the beauty of the state flower with a week-long event filled with family fun, including a city-wide yard sale, art show music festival and more. And you won’t want to miss the flower show that truly shows what a Tennessee spring is all about.

Strawberries tend to be synonymous with warmer weather, don’t they? Get a taste of Humboldt with its 73rd annual West Tennessee Strawberry Festival. The festival is sure to be a family treat, with parades, live entertainment, a barbecue cook-off, concerts, fireworks and more. So get ready for a “berry” festive week-long celebration May 2-8. Continue celebrating the delicious fruit at the 63rd Annual Tennessee Strawberry Festival in Dayton May 11-15 with a strawberry rodeo, exhibits and food vendors.

Big kudos to Clarksville’s Rivers & Spires Festival, which took place April 15-17, for shattering previous attendance records and bringing in more than 42,000 people into downtown Clarksville for the event. Missed it? No worries, make your plans to be among them next year April 14-16, 2011.
