Weather Alert
Things To Do, My Tennessee Week
On May 1 and 2, the city of Nashville and some of the surrounding cities and counties in Tennessee experienced record-breaking rains. While the overall impact of this weekend’s weather has not been fully assessed, some of Nashville’s popular attractions have sustained flood damage and will be closed for several weeks. However, many of Nashville’s attractions, restaurants, hotels and historic sites remain open for business.
Travelers to other destinations in Tennessee including Memphis, Chattanooga, Knoxville, the Smoky Mountains and Northeast Tennessee, will find these locations without incident and 100 percent open for business.
In Memphis, Graceland offers an insider’s look at the life of Elvis Presley. The Stax Museum of Soul Music celebrates Stax Records, glorifies soul music, and pays tribute to the greats like Sam & Dave, Isaac Hayes, and Otis Redding.
In Nashville, pay a visit to the Frist Center for the Visual Arts for your art fix. Next, head down the road to Lynchburg, where the trickle of a natural spring yields some of Mr. Jack Daniel’s world-famous sour mash whiskey.
In Gatlinburg, families will enjoy Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. If you’re in Knoxville, the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame should be on your list of attractions to see.
It is recommended that visitors planning a trip to Middle Tennessee check the website of the individual attractions, as well as the lodging facility, for continuous updates.
